Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360 Review
A corded upright with a detachable pod, a sealed HEPA filter and a 5-year warranty for about $200. It cleans hard floors and low-pile carpet well, but hair tangles and it is loud.

Should you buy it? It depends
- Buy it if you want a low-cost corded upright with real HEPA filtration and mostly hard floors or low-pile carpet.
- Skip it if you have long-haired pets, because hair wraps the brushroll and the brushroll does not clean itself.
- Skip it if you live in India or another 230V country, because it is a 120V US model.
Pros
- + Removed 96% of test debris from hardwood and 92% from low-pile carpet in TechGearLab's testing
- + Sealed HEPA filtration scored 9.0 out of 10, with only 18 particles escaping in the same lab test
- + Detachable Lift-Away pod for stairs, furniture and car interiors
- + Brushroll shutoff lets you switch from carpet to bare floors
- + 5-year limited warranty and a US list price of $199.99
Cons
- − Pet hair scored 5.7 out of 10 in testing, and hair tangles in the brushroll
- − Only removed 62% of debris from high-pile carpet
- − Measured at 79 dBA, which is loud for a home vacuum
- − Heavy at 14.42 lb, and reviewers call it top-heavy
- − Small 0.9-quart dust cup and filters that need regular washing
Best for
- Apartments and homes with mostly hard floors or low-pile carpet
- Buyers who want HEPA filtration and a long warranty on a budget
Not ideal for
- Homes with long-haired pets or deep-pile carpet
- Anyone buying in a 230V country such as India without a step-down transformer
This review is labeled Researched: it draws on Shark’s published specifications and independent lab and reviewer results, not our own hands-on testing. See How We Review for what that means. Where we quote a cleaning result, it is TechGearLab’s measurement, not ours.
What the NV360 is
The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe NV360 is a corded, bagless upright vacuum. Its main trick is the Lift-Away pod: press a button and the dust cup and motor lift off the wheeled base, so you can carry them to clean stairs, furniture or a car. Shark’s own product page also lists swivel steering, a brushroll shutoff switch, and a sealed system with a washable HEPA filter. It has been on sale for years and is still sold by Shark, which makes it one of the most established budget uprights around.

These are Shark’s figures. One test site lists the dust cup as 0.9 litres, while Shark’s own page says 0.9 quart, so we use the manufacturer’s number. A smaller quart-sized cup fills faster than a litre-sized one would.
Cleaning performance
The most useful numbers come from TechGearLab, which scored the NV360 72 out of 100 and ranked it 7th of 15 uprights it tested. On low-pile carpet it removed 92% of test debris, and on hardwood it removed 96% (a 7.8 out of 10 rating). On high-pile carpet that dropped to 62%, so the NV360 is a better fit for flat rugs and bare floors than for thick pile. TechGearLab also noted it struggled with deep crevices along baseboards.
Put simply, the NV360 is a solid everyday cleaner for typical floors. It is not the machine to pick if most of your home has deep carpet.
Pet hair
This is the weak spot. TechGearLab gave the NV360 5.7 out of 10 for pet hair and put its effectiveness at 60 to 70 percent, noting that hair tends to get caught in the bristles. The brushroll does not clean itself, so long hair has to be cut or pulled off by hand, and other reviewers warn that letting hair build up can strain the belt. If you have a long-haired dog or cat, look at a model with a self-cleaning brushroll instead. Shark sells some, but we have not researched them here.
Filtration and allergies
The sealed design and HEPA filter are the main reason to choose this over cheaper uprights. TechGearLab rated filtration 9.0 out of 10 and counted only 18 particles escaping during its test, which it classed as excellent air quality. That is a lab result for this model in the US configuration. If anyone in your home has dust allergies, it is a real point in the NV360’s favour.
Lift-Away pod and everyday use
The detachable pod is the feature buyers praise most, because it turns the upright into a portable cleaner for stairs, sofas and car seats without needing a second vacuum. The brushroll shutoff is the other useful control: switch it off on hardwood so the bristles do not scatter debris or scuff the floor, and on for carpet. Shark’s 25 ft cord covers a decent radius, and the 5 ft hose comes with a crevice tool and an upholstery tool.
The trade-offs are weight and stability. At 14.42 lb it is heavier than many stick vacuums, and reviewers describe it as top-heavy, with a short hose that can tip it over when the pod is attached and you stretch for the stairs. TechGearLab measured 79 dBA, which is noticeably loud, so this is not a vacuum for early mornings in a thin-walled flat.
Maintenance
Shark’s support guidance is clear. Wash the pre-motor foam and felt filters about every 3 months under normal use, and the post-motor foam and felt filters about every 12 months. Rinse in lukewarm water until it runs clear, squeeze out the excess and let the filters air-dry for at least 24 hours before putting them back. Spare filter kits are widely sold, but check that a kit lists the NV360 before you buy one. Clogged filters are a common reason for suction loss in uprights like this, so washing them on schedule matters.
How the NV360 compares with the NV352 and NV356E
The NV360 sits in the middle of Shark’s Navigator Lift-Away range. According to one comparison site, the NV352 has the smallest dust cup and the most limited tool set, the NV360 has a medium dust cup and a good basic kit, and the NV356E has the largest dust cup and a 30 ft cord. All three have sealed HEPA filtration. Prices move constantly, so the practical rule is to buy the NV360 when it costs less than the NV356E, and to step down to the NV352 only if it is clearly cheaper.
Price and value
Shark lists the NV360 at $199.99 in the US, and it is often discounted at retailers. For that money you get HEPA filtration, a detachable pod and a 5-year limited warranty, which is unusually generous at this price. The value case is strong for hard floors and low-pile carpet. It weakens if you need pet-hair performance, deep-pile cleaning or a quiet machine.
If you live in India
The NV360 is built for the US: Shark’s specifications list 120V and 1,200W. India’s mains supply is 230V, so using one there would mean a step-down transformer rated for at least the 1,200W the vacuum draws, and warranty and service cover are unlikely to apply. We found no India listing for it. If you are shopping in India, our best vacuum cleaner for home in India guide covers models sold there.
Verdict
Buy the NV360 if you want a cheap, well-filtered upright for a home with mostly hard floors or low-pile carpet, and you can live with the noise. Skip it if you have long-haired pets or thick carpet, or if you are outside the US and its 120V supply.
FAQ
Is the Shark Navigator NV360 good for pet hair? It is only average. TechGearLab scored it 5.7 out of 10 for pet hair and estimated 60 to 70 percent effectiveness, and noted that hair tends to catch in the bristles. The brushroll does not clean itself, so expect to cut hair away by hand. It suits short-haired pets far better than long-haired ones.
Can you use the Shark NV360 on hardwood floors? Yes. The brushroll shutoff switch lets you clean bare floors with suction only, so the bristles do not scatter debris or scuff the surface. TechGearLab measured 96% debris removal on hardwood and rated it 7.8 out of 10 there.
Does the Shark NV360 have a HEPA filter? Yes. Shark lists a washable HEPA filter plus foam filters in a sealed system. TechGearLab rated its filtration 9.0 out of 10, with only 18 particles escaping in testing, which is good news for allergy sufferers.
How often should you clean the Shark NV360 filters? Shark recommends washing the pre-motor foam and felt filters about every 3 months under normal use, and the post-motor foam and felt filters about every 12 months. Rinse them in lukewarm water and let them air-dry for at least 24 hours before refitting. If suction stays weak after washing, the filter may need replacing.
What is the difference between the Shark NV360, NV352 and NV356E? According to one comparison, the NV352 is the basic model with the smallest dust cup and fewest tools, the NV360 is the middle option, and the NV356E has the largest dust cup and a 30 ft cord instead of 25 ft. All three use sealed HEPA filtration, so the choice mostly comes down to size and current price.
How long is the warranty on the Shark NV360? Shark lists a 5-year limited warranty on the NV360. Limited warranties usually cover defects rather than wear and tear, so check the terms on Shark’s site before you buy.
How loud is the Shark Navigator NV360? TechGearLab measured 79 dBA, which is loud for a home vacuum. It is best avoided in a small flat if you vacuum early or late.
Can you use the Shark NV360 in India? Not without a step-down transformer. The NV360 is a 120V, 1,200W US model, while India’s mains supply is 230V. We found no India listing, so warranty and service cover there are unlikely.
